La Laguna, the only World Heritage city in the Canary Islands, has today become the home of the cultural heritage of the people of Tenerife. Its streets, with more than five centuries of history, have brought together this afternoon hundreds of people from all over the island around the parade of the VII Encuentro de Libreas de Tenerife, a union of complex and diverse cultural manifestations that maintain the legacy of generations marked by distant battles, piratical attacks or prayer for the harvest.
For a few hours, locals and visitors were able to enjoy the creativity and dedication of hundreds of locals, who keep these representations alive in the villages of the north and northwest of the island as an exaltation of their cultural heritage.
The parade joined the squares of Hermano Ramón and El Cristo, through Viana Street, and ended with an explanation and brief representation of the liveries of Valle de Guerra, El Tanque, Taganana, El Palmar, as well as that of the Lugar de Buenavista del Norte and that of the Diablos de las Angustias de Icod de Los Vinos.
This initiative, organised by the Federación Cultural Libreas de Tenerife, had the collaboration of the councils of Cultural Heritage and Festivities of La Laguna City Council, the Fundación Canaria Tamaimos and the Escuela de Arte y Superior de Diseño Fernando Estévez.
