La Laguna Tenerife unveiled its official Austral Sport kits for the 25/26 season on Thursday. The Tenerife club took inspiration from Leonardo Torriani’s historic map, the oldest surviving map of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, to design a kit that symbolises the original layout of Aguere in a tribute to the city where its roots were forged.

The Canarian team’s new kit is a connection to the past, honouring a legacy that contributed to the declaration of the City of the Adelantados as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The elements and shapes of that map, drawn in 1588 by the Italian engineer and architect on sepia-coloured parchment, after using the ancient rope measurement system to create the first urban plan of La Laguna, are reflected in the kit that the black and gold team will wear next season.

The Canarian club is once again turning to its colours, yellow and black, to recreate a map of immense historical value.La Laguna club once again draws on its colours, yellow and black, to recreate a layout of immense historical value.

The original layout, an open and innovative model for the first unfortified city, which would later be applied to many colonial enclaves across the seas, such as Havana, Lima and Cartagena de Indias, has remained intact over time and has now served as inspiration for Tenerife’s representative in the elite of Spanish and European basketball.

Identity, tradition and culture come together in the new kits that the club will soon be selling in its official store. The Tenerife-based club will also unveil a new special kit for the coming season in the next few weeks.
