The programme will include workshops, face painting, attractions, music, gastronomy, a big circus, sports area and a multitude of proposals spread over seven points of the city.

The city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna will dress up this coming Saturday, 17 May, to display a new edition of the Day of Families, a day of leisure and dynamization with which the City Council wants to celebrate the great diversity of society in the municipality. The planned agenda will include more than 40 events designed for all ages.

This Wednesday saw the official presentation of this event, in which the Mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, the Councillor for Social Welfare and Quality of Life, María Cruz, and the head of La Laguna Zona Comercial, Iván Pérez, took the floor. Also present were the councillors Badel Albelo (Sports and Public Safety), Sergio Eiroa (Youth and Education) and Estefanía Díaz (Commerce and Tourism).

Luis Yeray Gutiérrez stressed that ‘this is one of the popular events that has grown the most in recent years in our municipality, demonstrating that La Laguna is a lively city, with a wide range of culture and entertainment for all sectors of our population’.

‘We have a wide variety of proposals and, it is important to stress, these are adapted, inclusive and accessible activities, through the resources of the Orange Point of support and accompaniment for people with disabilities,’ added the head of the Consistory, who recalled that “this is an inalienable objective of this Government Group, a municipality for all people, for which the city has been internationally recognised”.

The timetable for this family day will be from 10:30 to 21:00, ‘to be respectful of the rest of the people who live in the old town,’ said the mayor.

For her part, the councillor for Social Welfare and Quality of Life, María Cruz, explained that the planned agenda will be divided into seven distinct areas, ‘to facilitate the transit and enjoyment of citizens’. These points of reference will be the streets San Agustín and Heraclio, the school La Aneja and the squares of the Junta Suprema, El Adelantado, El Cristo and La Catedral.

‘Throughout this Saturday, we will be able to enjoy family and educational workshops, face painting, inflatables, simulators, story readings, awareness talks, photocalls, specific areas for the practice of different sports disciplines, board games, escape room or a circus fair, among other surprises’, added the mayor.

Once again this year, inclusion will take centre stage with specific workshops for physical and sensory disabilities, barrier-free spaces, escort service, sensitive backpacks and sign language interpreters, so that no one misses out on this entertainment event. There will also be two Violet Points, with information and advice for women who find themselves in a situation of harassment or male aggression.

Among the novelties of this edition is the gastronomic area in the Plaza del Adelantado, where you can taste products from different food stalls, as well as the new rest and breastfeeding areas that will be distributed throughout the city. In addition, an official passport for the event will be distributed, to reward people who visit at least four of the seven planned locations with a gift.

Finally, the councillor for Social Welfare wanted to thank the involvement and work of the technical and political staff of the areas involved in the celebration of this Day of Families of La Laguna 2025.

The full programme and details of times and locations will be provided through the social profiles of the City Council of La Laguna and the Department of Social Welfare and Quality of Life.
