The II Race for ALS

The II Race for ALS returns to fill the streets of the old town with solidarity. The Autonomous Sports Organisation of La Laguna, chaired by Badel Albelo, has opened registration for the children’s races and the adult category, with a distance of 3 kilometres. Those interested can already register through the website https://deportelagunero.com/. All proceeds will go to TeidELA, an association committed to improving the quality of life of people affected by this disease.

The Councillor for Sports of the City Council of La Laguna, Badel Albelo, said that ‘this second edition of the Race for ALS is carried out with the aim of promoting sports, healthy habits and raising awareness of a disease such as ALS’. He added: ‘We want this race to be an emblematic event in our municipality, where solidarity and sport go hand in hand to give visibility to this cause’.

Organised by the Organismo Autónomo de Deportes and the Junta de Hermandades de La Laguna, the II Carrera por la ELA will once again fill the streets of the municipality with a message of support and unity. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease, still without a cure, whose average life expectancy is between three and five years.

The event will start at 10:00 am with the children’s races, while at 10:30 am the adult race will begin, preceded by a 15-minute warm-up. In addition, children’s activities will be held in the Plaza del Cristo square, allowing parents to enjoy the event with the peace of mind that their children will be safe and sound.

This day will feature a 3 kilometre route through the streets of the historic centre of La Laguna, passing by the three most important churches in the municipality: El Cristo, the Cathedral and La Concepción. Before and after the race there will be elements of animation so that the physical activity and the good atmosphere continues in the Plaza del Cristo, epicentre of the II Race for ALS.

Registrations can be made from Friday 7 February until 8 April or until the maximum quota of 2,000 places is exhausted.
